I started with these large fowl birds because they were a good table bird with a decent laying rate. They lay a medium to large cream colored egg. I love the little tuft on their heads and the colors of both the hens and the cocks. The Austrian Sulmtaler can be sexed as chicks once they feather in as the males have the darker colors. I have a mixture of Silver and Wheaten all in one pen. These birds are cold hardy, intelligent and friendly. They love to free range and get along with everyone I pasture them with. They are shorter on their legs and stocky after about 6 months. At 16 weeks they look little but fill in nicely as they mature.
We hatch chicks from February 29th thru April 15th. The availability on this website is what we have ready to ship. All other times we hatch to order using the pre-order item. When you use the pre-order item we will contact you with an approximate ship date. All chicks will be vaccinated for Marek's.
Please do not combine hatching egg orders with live chick orders as the shipping is not compatible. Also note the minimum number of chicks that I can ship is 6 for them to survive. Please make sure your total number of chicks is at least 6 before checking out. It is possible to combine chicks of different breeds or varieties as long as they are available on the same ship date.
